Magical Monaco for Paul Tattersall

The 2300 Club would like to congratulate Paul Tattersall on his fantastic achievement of finishing in the top ten at the 12th Monaco Grand Prix Historique.
Paul, who was competing in the final race of the weekend, had a storming drive in his Ensign N179, finishing a brilliant eighth in an action-packed 18-lapper around the iconic street circuit.
“I’m simply elated, delighted and thrilled!” he said after the race.
“To come here as a real amateur and race against seasoned professionals, and many ex-Formula One drivers, on such a narrow, unforgiving circuit is hardly believable.
“It’s been an amazing weekend, starting with going to the drivers briefing on Thursday, along with Rene Arnoux and Jean Alesi!
“Learning the circuit again in practice wasn’t easy, but we did 15 laps and all went well. Our best time was 1m 45s, which I didn’t feel was very quick, but we improved our times with each lap.”
Starting from the 16th row of the grid in his beautifully-prepared ex-Derek Daly car – which Daly drove in the 1979 Monaco GP – Paul was quickly moving up the leaderboard.
By lap five, he was up to 13th and then 12th by lap 8, making the most of a dramatic race, with many drivers unable to master a track that punishes the smallest mistake.
Watched by a host of well-known F1 drivers in the pitlane, including Max and Jos Verstappen, Paul brought his car home in an amazing eighth place to the delight of 2300 Club members who were able to watch the race via an internet live stream.
“We are so proud of Paul and his result this weekend,” said club chairman Neil Molyneux.
“To go to a place like Monaco and achieve a top ten finish is simply brilliant.
We look forward to hearing all about it when he gets home. Paul and the team went out to celebrate in Monte Carlo afterwards, so let’s hope he’s made it to the airport!”
