Big day ahead in the Dales for Ifan and Luke

A new car and a new rally represents a unique challenge for Ifan Devine and Luke Constantine this weekend.

Ifan, the 2300 Club’s John Easson Award winner and his driver are debuting their Opel Corsa Rally4 on the Yorkshire Dales Rally.

The pair are seeded at car 29 for the closed road event, which comprises eight stages totalling 47 miles, based around Leyburn.

“It’s going to be a massive event for us and the car promises to be amazing,” explained Ifan.

“We have been testing this week, just to get a feel for the Corsa. To say we are looking forward to Sunday is an understatement!

“The stages are new for everyone and Luke is very confident on tarmac, but ultimately, we want to explore the limits of the new car, bring it home in one piece and get some mileage under our belts in preparation for the first round of the BRC.

“We had thought about doing Saturday’s Rally North Wales, as it would have been the perfect preparation for the next month’s BRC opener, the Severn Valley Stages. But the Yorkshire Dales Rally is on Luke’s home territory, and the family business are co-sponsors, so it was a no-brainer really.

“The recce is on Saturday, and again, we’ll be making our own notes, which definitely gives us the confidence to push on in the stages.”
