After a stellar result on the Grampian Rally, Luke Constantine and Ifan Devine will be looking for more of the same on this weekend’s Rali Ceredigion.
Our John Easson Award winner guided his driver to victory in the JBRC class and the Stellantis UK Cup.
That result extended Ifan’s lead in the JBRC co-drivers category and narrowed the gap in the drivers class between Luke and leader Ben McFall.
Another good result in Aberystwyth would put them firmly in the driving seat with only round to go.
“We will have to push very hard this weekend,” explained Ifan.
“All of the BRC crews are very, very quick but we have made good progress with the car this season, and Luke is increasingly comfortable with the pace needed.”
Rali Ceredigion is a closed-road event and part of the European Championship, spread over three days starting with two street stages in Aberystwyth on Friday night before two more stages around Talybont and Pendam.
Saturday features a loop of stages near Llyn Brianne, the Elan Valley and Devil’s Bridge repeated in the afternoon. Following a re-group in Rhayader, the day finishes with another double stage in Aberystwyth.
The final day sees two repeated stages around Lampeter and Aberaeron before a ceremonial finish on Aberystwyth Promenade..
“It’s going to be a very intense week as there are two days of recce before the rally starts,” said Ifan.
“But we have had a good seeding and will start at car 31, which means there’s less chance of us catching slower cars. Hopefully, all our preparations will pay off come Sunday afternoon.”
