Late entry for Emily on the RSAC Scottish Rally

There is a last minute addition to the entry list for this weekend’s RSAC Scottish Rally – the 2300 Club’s John Easson Award winner Emily Easton-Page.

Emily will partner ninth-seed Hugh Brunton, from Arbroath, in his Skoda Rally 2 Evo.

“I hadn’t planned on doing the Scottish because of my BTRDA commitments, but then I noticed High didn’t have a co-driver, so I threw my hat in the ring. Luckily, he said yes,” explained Emily.

“My Other Half, Peredur Davies, is navigating for Scott Beattie, which would have meant me being relegated to the role of spectator – and I don’t make a very good spectator!

“As it turns out, he’s at car ten and we’re at car nine, so I think there will be some friendly rivalry as the day goes on.”

Although this will be Emily’s first time alongside Hugh, meticulous preparation and a knowledge of the forests in southern Scotland will help.

She added: “I’ve done the Scottish Rally before with last year’s John Easson winner Johnnie Mackay, so the type of roads will be familiar, and we also have the DVD notes”

Top seed Jock Armstrong leads the field away from a ceremonial start in Dalbeattie on Saturday morning, with 44 miles spread over six stages in the Glengap, Kinhavie and Dalbeattie Forests.
