Emily & Liam unfazed by the Nicky Grist Stages Rally

As the BTRDA Rally Championship moves into the second half of the season, Liam Clark and Emily Easton-Page find themselves in uncharted territory this weekend.

Round five of the series is the Nicky Grist Stages, based in mid-Wales – and it’s an event that is new to both driver and co-driver.
“It doesn’t particularly faze us, and it’s always interesting to do a completely new rally on stages we’ve never done before,” explained Emily, the current 2300 Club John Easson Award winner.

“Liam will try and get a test in the Fiesta this week to re-acclimatise himself with the car, but even if he doesn’t, we will be well prepared.

“I will be looking at in-car videos from previous Nicky Grist rallies to get a feel for the stages. We will then go over the DVD notes together and add in any of our own, before finally checking that my delivery of the notes will be paced correctly.

“Liam is a very quick driver, but he’s also very neat and rarely gets near the ragged edge, which obviously helps on stages that are unfamiliar to us.”

The pair have enjoyed a very successful start to their 2024 BTRDA campaign, with a string of excellent results propelling Emily into third place in the co-drivers standings and Liam up to fourth in the drivers table.

They have been seeded at car nine in their Alan Causey Autosport-prepared Fiesta Rally2.

The 2024 Nicky Grist Stages features 44 miles of gravel roads around the famous Epynt military range roads and comprises two loops of four forest stages. BTRDA Gold Star leader Elliott Payne and Tom Woodburn will be flagged away from the ceremonial start in Builth Wells at 9am on Saturday morning
