Positive start to Luke and Ifan’s BRC campaign

Co-driver Ifan Devine was intent on focusing on the positives after a challenging BRC debut on the Severn Valley Stages.

Ifan and driver Luke Constantine brought their new Opel Corsa home in 13th place.

“It was the first time on gravel and Luke is still learning about the car and best set-up, but we were losing time to the top runners,” explained our John Easson Award winner,

“We were 5-6 seconds off the pace, but Luke had a few ideas where the time was leaking away. Once we got to the first service, the team tweaked the set-up of the Corsa and it instantly made a difference not only to our times, but also Luke’s confidence in the car.

“By SS5 we were only ten seconds off a podium place, but a puncture very early on SS6 killed our hopes.

“There was no mistake in Luke’s driving, but the stage was very churned up by the second run of the day.”

Despite the disappointing end to the rally, the pair were concentrating on the positives rather than the negatives.

“It’s very early days yet with the car, and it was clear that once we had made the changes to the set-up, the pace was there,” he added.

*Ifan and Luke have made a late decision to enter this weekend’s Kielder Forest Rally in order to get more seat time ahead of their next outing, the Manx National Rally in May.
