As test sessions go, last weekend’s Kielder Stages ticked all the boxes for Luke Constantine and Ifan Devine.
The pair were using the event to get more experience of their new Opel Corsa Rally4 ahead of next month’s Manx Rally.
And they came away with two class wins and a top twenty finish.
“It was a very good day for us and the perfect opportunity to try some different things with the new car in a pressure-free environment,” explained Ifan, our reigning John Easson Award winner.
“After the Severn Valley Stages, it was clear we needed to make more changes to the car, particularly on gravel.
“We were thinking of doing a day’s testing, but it didn’t cost much more to do the Kielder Stages, and we would be able to compare times with our rivals during the day.
“Finishing 18th overall and taking two class wins shows that we are definitely on the right road.”
It’s back to tarmac for Luke and Ifan next month when they compete on the Manx National Rally, on May 8-9.
