We are hugely sad to report the death on 5th November of Harold ‘Taff’ Edwards after a brave battle with cancer.
Taff was a member of the original ‘gang of four’ who travelled to Mull in early 1969 to investigate the idea of running a rally there. He served 25 years as Rally Secretary and is a Tour of Mull legend. Everyone who competed in one of his events has a fund of ‘Taff’ stories. He was a remarkable character and a big part of the Tour of Mull. Taff maintained his keen interest in the event and was a regular attendee at our monthly meetings. He retained his humorous and controversial style and was a valuable consultant to the Club. The John Easson Award was instigated at Taff’s suggestion. He believed that we should use the money left to us by John to encourage youngsters into our sport. Taff's funeral will be on Friday 13th November near Blackburn. This will be for family only. The family home address is 24 Glendale Drive, Mellor, BLACKBURN BB2 7HD. If you have any recollections of Taff please email neilm@2300club.org. We will compile them for his family and publish them here. We send our deep sympathy to Hylda, Janet and Eryl. |
