John Easson Award winner Ewan Tindall bounced back from his misfortune last time out with a cool and calculated drive on the Grampian Forest Rally
After crashing out of the last round of the Scottish Rally Championship, the 21 year old was under pressure to bring the car home in one piece – and make up some of the lost ground in his class title chase.
And he responded brilliantly, scoring a class win and the collecting the Junior Award in his Fiesta R2T.
Reunited with his regular co-driver Andrew Roughead, who was absent through illness on the RSAC Scottish Rally, the pair endured a tough start to the event when the turbo boost pipe came off on SS1.
“The car immediately went into limp mode for the rest of the stage, and although we diagnosed and fixed the issue on the road section to SS2, the damage was done after losing two-and-a-half minutes,” he said.
“So, the aim then was to get to the finish without any heroics and get some points on the board after the disappointment a few weeks back.
“Stage conditions were tough in a little FWD car at the back of the field, so keeping out of trouble and not getting a puncture was always in the back of my mind.
“We were really pleased to get to the end and also pick up two awards, it felt very hard-earned.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to the guys at Team Valley MOT for getting the car repaired in time, my Dad Lee Tindall, Simon Hewitt and Max Tindall for keeping the car running all day.
“But a special mention to Andrew. It was great to have him back in the car, and he even got his gloves dirty repairing the turbo pipe!”
