Emily Easton-Page heads for the final round of the BTRDA Championship, Saturday’s Cambrian Rally,
buoyed by a superb performance on last weekend’s Snowman.
Standing in for boyfriend Peredur Davies, Emily teamed up with Scottish Championship front-runner
Scott Beattie for a debut run in his Fiesta R5.
Despite their unfamiliarity, the pair finished a brilliant fourth overall, swapping times all day with the
leading cars and giving Scott his best SRC result of the season.
“It was a really good day. Although it was our first time together, we soon gelled and after a steady start
on the first couple of stages, Scott was very soon on the pace,” explained Emily, the reigning John
Easson Award winner.
“As the day went on, Scott was getting faster and faster. SS4 was a repeat of SS1 and we took 20
seconds off our initial time. It was one of those days where we really didn’t want the rally to finish.
“The winner was BRC contender Garry Pearson, and he was in a league of his own, so it was left to John
Winks, Scott Macbeth Jock Armstrong and ourselves to set the pace for the rest. On the last stage we all
beat the bogey time!”
Emily will be alongside her BTRDA partner Liam Clark for the season finale, the Cambrian Rally in North
Wales on Saturday.
“Liam’s place in the championship is sealed at fifth, I could get to fourth in the co-drivers table if the
results go for us,” said Emily.
“In some ways, it takes the pressure off. We can go out on Saturday, explore the capabilities of the car
and really push ourselves,
“We have a test on Friday which will be very helpful. It gives us a chance to re-acclimatise with the car
and the notes, and instead of bedding ourselves in on the first stage, hopefully we will be quick out of the blocks!”
