Ifan Devine and Luke Constantine came away with two class wins and a sixth place finish on the Trackrod Forest Stages.
Our John Easson Award winner guided his driver to first in class, first FWD and sixth overall in the Trackrod Historic Cup, driving their Opel Corsa Rally 4.
And Luke paid tribute to his co-driver, describing his performance over the weekend as ‘flawless’.
He said: “Not a bad weekend between the trees. A frustrating start to the rally when several accidents on the Friday night caused lots of stoppages.
“Saturday was a much better day and we were happy to be mixing it with the top historic boys on some seriously fast stages. We thought we wouldn’t to be able to live with them, just due to the straight line speed.
“A top four finish could have been on the cards but a few silly mistakes this afternoon proved costly.
“We struggled quite badly in the areas under the trees where the sun was strobing through with my vision, so it may be time to get booked into the opticians.
“An overshoot on SS4 dropped us about 25 seconds and then I was way too ambitious over the jump in SS5. We overshot the junction that followed, which left us with a one-million-point turn, dropping us another 35 seconds.
“A big thank you to all the marshals we kept busy with all of the box junctions we destroyed!”
Next up is the Beatson’s Mull Rally from October 9-11, the pair are seeded at car 20.
