Final Fling for Johnnie Mackay this weekend

Johnnie Mackay brings the curtain down on his 2023 season with a ‘just for fun’ outing on this weekend’s Kinloss Winter Stages.

After a difficult start to the year, Johnnie produced a class-winning performance on the last round of the Scottish Rally Championship, the Carlisle Stages, to take the overall M6 category title.

And the reigning John Easson Award winner is aiming to finish his year in style on the popular single-venue event.

“I’m really looking forward to doing a rally where there’s no pressure at all,” said Johnnie, who will have Lewis Haining from Solway Car Club alongside.
“When you commit to a championship, as we did, it can make for a very intense year, especially when things don’t go to plan!

“But Kinloss will just be a bit of fun, hopefully. I enjoy single venues, and there’s always a bit of run-off if things go slightly wrong. It’s a strong field, with several Evos out, so it will make for a good comparison with our Evo.”

Organised by Condor Motorsport Club, the Kinloss Winter Stages comprises five stages, starting at 30-second intervals, using the roads at Kinloss Army Barracks at Forres, near Inverness.
