Stellar Stellantis for Luke and Ifan on the Jim Clark Rally

A near faultless drive on the Jim Clark Rally saw Luke Constantine and Ifan Devine win the Stellantis Rally Trophy UK and take second place in the Junior BRC.

“It was one of those events where everything just clicked. It was apparent as early as SS1 on the Friday night that Luke’s confidence in the Corsa Rally 4 was unbelievable. That gave me the confidence to push on as well,” explained Ifan, our John Easson Award winner.

“What was impressive was beating Ross Hunter, who is very, very quick, in this own back yard. We also gave Ben McFall, who is an experienced front runner in JBRC, a really close run.

“ We were leading by two seconds over the opening pair of stages, but the final two of the night saw us catching other cars, which left us 21 seconds down at the overnight halt.

“We managed to pull back 16 seconds over the Saturday stages, but it wasnt quite enough. But we weren’t disappointed at all. Luke has been out in his car for two years, this is our fifth event, so it’s all about perspective.

“Winning the Stellantis Cup, which is for Corsas, Ypsilions, and Peugeot 208s, was a real bonus for us.”

The pair were due to contest the Argyll Rally, but have pulled their entry in favour of a run on the Nicky Grist Stages on July 11.

Said Ifan: “The next BRC round is the Grampian Forest Rally on August 7-8, so it will give us a chance to get some more experience on gravel and make sure the set-up of the car is right.”
